1 piece, 3 materials: when the design is the same, but the process change

The requests that arrive at Guerrini Valerio Torneria Automatica are already complete:

the technical design and material are defined upstream.

Our work starts from there.

Same design, different processes

When a component is made of different materials – such as AVP, stainless steel or aluminium – the production process changes substantially.

With the same geometry, it is the material that determines the approach in the machine.

In particular, it affects:

  • cycle times, linked to machinability and process stability
  • tools, selected according to hardness and mechanical behaviour
  • achievable tolerances, which vary depending on the material
  • scrap, especially in more complex machining operations or with critical geometries
  • final cost, the result of the balance between raw materials and the production process

Identical components on paper may therefore require completely different production strategies.

The role of technical analysis

We do not choose the material for the customer.

Instead, we analyse each project from a production point of view, starting from the design and evaluating what will happen in the machine: process stability, dimensional criticalities, repeatability and economic impact.

When possible criticalities or alternatives emerge, we share targeted technical assessments with a specific goal: to improve the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of production, especially before the start of series production.

Because a design that is correct on paper is only the starting point.

A well-industrialised project is one that really works in production.
